The French government is officially banning the use of English video gaming terms to preserve the purity of French language. As per the AFP, government officials will now be required to replace words such as ‘e-sports’ and ‘streaming’ with their approved French versions. France’s Culture Ministry said the use of English terms could become a “barrier to understanding” for non-gamers.
