Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the government will reduce central excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹8 and ₹6 per litre, respectively. She said, “This will reduce the price of petrol by ₹9.5 per litre and of diesel by ₹7 per litre.” She also announced a subsidy of ₹200 per gas cylinder to beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
