Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said on Monday that bilingual and integrated books will be introduced for Class 1 students in Marathi medium schools from this academic year. She said that while students “understand better” when taught in their mother tongue, they should also “understand English words (for Marathi words)”. Gaikwad was replying to queries in the state Assembly.
