Lights on the Eiffel Tower will be turned off at 11:45 pm instead of 1 am starting from September 23 to save energy amid Europe’s energy crisis, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said. Extinguishing the monument’s lights early would mean a 4% reduction in its power consumption. Lights at other landmark monuments in Paris will be switched off at 10 pm.
