Twenty three-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams was knocked out by world number 115 Harmony Tan in the first round of Wimbledon 2022. Serena lost the match with the scoreline of 5-7, 6-1, 6-7(7-10) in three hours and 11 minutes. In Wimbledon 2021, Serena was forced to retire from her first round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich due to injury.
