Sri Lanka will support the Indian and Japanese bids for permanent membership status at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), President Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Tuesday. Wickremesinghe, who is presently in Japan for former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s funeral, made the remarks during a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi. At present, the UNSC has five permanent members.
