The US on Tuesday said China has increased “provocations” against competing claimants to territory in the South China Sea. Senior US official Jung Pak further said Chinese aircraft had recently engaged in unsafe intercepts of Australian planes above the sea. “There is a clear and upward trend of [Chinese] provocations against the South China Sea claimants,” she said.
