India’s first judo world champion across any age group, 16-year-old Linthoi Chanambam, said she used to beat up boys while growing up in Manipur. Chanambam said she took up judo as she believed she was a boy and would get into fights resulting in her parents having to take injured boys to hospital. Chanambam won gold in women’s 57-kg category.
